History
1798
Established by Thomas Simpson. It had a rough history due to its unreliable water source

Ingram, Lamb & Co.

Acquired by John Manson & Co. of Strathmeldrum Distillery who continued to operate until 1884

Purchased by J.G. Thomson & Co. of Leith

Acquired by the Glengarioch Distillery Co. Ltd., managing director William Sanderson of Leith

Passed to Booth’ Distilleries Ltd.

Acquired by Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd. (SMD) from Booth’ Distilleries Ltd.

After sporadic periods of closure the distillery was bought by Stanley P. Morrison. A deep well in a nearby field was dough, and a reliable source of water was secured. The waste heat was piped to hothouses to grow tomatoes and other greenhouse fruits

Extended from two to three stills by Stanley P. Morrison (Agencies) Ltd.. Floor maltings, waste-heat boiler, greenhouses heated by waste heat
