Established by John Duff & Co., who had been manager of Glendronach Distillery for several years. He had two partners, Alexander Grigor Allan, procurator fiscal for Morayshire, and H. Mackay, a land agent and burgh of Elgin. John Hopkins is mentioned as partner as well
