History
1896-97
Established by William Grant on the site locally known as "The Smugglers’ Glen". This site has been popular because of its excellent spring water. In those days the distillery was one of the most modern distilleries in the United Kingdom. An other source says: Built by the Tamdhu Distillery Co. Ltd., owned by a consortium of blenders
